Noah Schnapp plays Will Byers on "Stranger Things," an 80's themed hit horror series on Netflix. Schnapp discussed on Instagram whether the character he plays on the show is gay or not.

Schnapp shared a snapshot between two Twitter users talking about his character's sexuality on "Stranger Things" via his Instagram account. The 12-year old actor revealed he has wisdom beyond his years when he joined in the fan discussion, according to Huffington Post.

The internet has forced a 12-year-old to reply about a young boy’s sexuality on a fictional show. “Stranger Things” is a series set in the 80’s following a group of children whose friend went missing mysteriously.

The possibility of Will Byers being gay is a hot issue among multiple platforms. According to The Advocate, there are obviously no gay characters in "Stranger Things," and their status as outsiders resonate for LGBT viewers even the slurs used to describe them.

Will for one, during a memorial service arranged by the school, was even said to be in "fairyland," with all the other fairies flying around all happy and gay. Mike (Finn Wolfhard) then confronted the bullies who made fun of his disappearance and presumed he is dead. Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) speaks with a lisp because of cleidocranial dysplasia (missing adult teeth), Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin), is an African-American.

It does not seem to matter to Schnapp whether his character in “Stranger Things” is gay or not, and he says to fans that they are missing the point. He says he is only 12 but does know that we all relate to being different. Wise words from the young actor for telling fans not to bring to focus whether the character he plays is indeed gay or not, but rather focus on how he and the other different young characters come together in the show and how they are being treated by society.

“Stranger Things” is the third most-watched, self-produced program on Netflix created by brothers Ross and Matt Duffer. Filming for "Stranger Things" Season 2 has already started but the 9-episode season will not be broadcast until next year.
