NEW YORK — Kai Cenat, a leading Twitch streamer with 17.1 million followers, has unveiled an ambitious project: Streamer University. Announced on May 6, 2025, the initiative invites aspiring content creators to enroll in a weekend-long program designed to teach the art of streaming and content creation. The program, hosted at a real university campus, aims to foster creativity and collaboration among creators of all levels.
In a Hogwarts-inspired Instagram reel, Cenat welcomed applicants, saying, "I'm excited to extend to you a most heartfelt welcome to the very first class of Streamer University. Here, you will find a school where chaos is encouraged and content is king." The announcement, which garnered over 1 million applications within minutes, underscores Cenat's influence in the streaming world.

The concept first emerged during a February 2025 Twitch livestream, when Cenat shared his vision to rent a university for a weekend. "I'm going to rent out a university over a course of a weekend. It will be streaming university. Okay? I'm going to rent it out," he said. He emphasized inclusivity, noting that both established and novice streamers could apply to stream the entire weekend. Cenat plans to serve as the principal, overseeing a campus equipped with dormitories and streaming setups.
Streamer University will feature guest instructors, including prominent creators like MrBeast, who Cenat hopes will teach finance, and Mark Rober, envisioned leading science experiments. "In terms of the classes and s**t, for example, I would love to do some s**t where, science, Mark Rober is the professor for that day, and he's doing crazy experiments for everybody's stream," Cenat said. These sessions aim to provide hands-on learning opportunities, blending entertainment with practical skills.
The program is free for participants, with Cenat confirming that travel, accommodation, and access to sessions will be fully funded. Two universities have offered their campuses at no cost, and Cenat is collaborating with PC companies to supply streaming equipment. The initiative prioritizes smaller creators, with a selective application process to ensure passionate applicants are chosen.
The announcement caused the official website, streameruniversity.com, to crash due to overwhelming traffic. Cenat addressed the issue on Instagram Stories, assuring fans, "Y'all crashed the god**n website. The website is crashed, but give us some time. It's going to go right back up, y'all." The site is now operational, accepting applications for over 150 spots for students and teachers.
Social media reactions have been mixed. Some fans praised Cenat's efforts to uplift new talent, with one X user commenting, "Love seeing Kai Cenat give back with Streamer University!" Others expressed skepticism, with a commenter joking, "So just a more expensive clown college?" Despite varied opinions, the project has sparked significant buzz, with hashtags like #StreamingUniversity trending online.
Cenat's Streamer University reflects his commitment to nurturing the next generation of creators. With his track record of viral streams and high-profile collaborations, the 23-year-old is well-positioned to lead this innovative venture. As applications pour in, Streamer University promises to be a groundbreaking step in professionalizing content creation.
