The holidays is the time of the year that everybody looks forward to because it is a time of happiness, fellowship and harmony. However, all of our excitement turns into feelings of sadness, depression which are usually referred to as holiday blues. Instead of allowing yourself to get overwhelmed by these negative feelings, get back the cheerful vibe and beat the seasonal blues with these helpful tricks.

Take your time and don't be too hard on yourself

The holiday season is a very busy time for a lot of events and parties and gatherings. And as much as you'd like to be present on every occasion, you also get tired and stressed. Don't make too many plans and just prioritize the ones that really matters. Just choose to do the things that mean the most to you because overdoing things can make you feel irritable and leave you with feelings of anxiety.

Practice a random act of kindness

When you do good for others, it will make you happier and that's a fact supported by science. So if ever you feel down, plan out a task to show kindness to anyone. It does not have to be very extravagant, it can be as simple as doing someone a simple favor, running an errand for your mom, calling a friend who feels along, and many other things.

Spend time with your loved ones

Another significant source of happiness is your relationships with the people that matter to you the most - your family and friends. You don't have to buy them expensive gifts to enjoy the season, but you can choose to spend time with them. Plan out fun activities you can do with them and you'll certainly enjoy.

Take a break and get ample time to rest

One major reason for the holiday depression is your lack of sleep. If you need to take a break, step away and take a nap. Don't drown yourself too much of all the festivities if they are too much for you.
