The most anticipated MacBook Pro 2016 is nearing its launching date as Apple hinted Oct. 27 as official date of unveiling and early 2017 for the release date. Are you one of those who still hold the old MacBook Pro? You might want to know first the difference and similarities of the two new macs before you decide to replace the old one.

Difference

In the physical design aspect, MacBook Pro 2016 is expected to come off as thinner and lighter compared to its predecessors. Although there is still no mention of the sizes of the new macs, the 13-inch old mac has a width of 0.71 inch and weighs 3.48 punds while the 15-inch is thinner by 25 percent and lighter by 20 percent than the 13-inch model according to Apple website.

When it comes to display, retina display was featured in the 13-inch old mac but it is not mentioned whether it will be retained or not in the next lineup. For the screen resolution, MacBook Pro 2016 is rumored to have a 2304 x 1440 resolution which is quite lower than the old macs which has 2560 x 1600 resolution for the 13-inch model and 2880 x 1800 for the 15-inch model.

In addition, OLED panel which is located above the keyboard is the newest rumored feature of the new mac. The physical functions keys are perceived to be removed from MacBook Pro 2016 and replaced with dynamic function keys embedded in the OLED panel, according to Mac World.   

Under the hood, the old MacBooks are powered by Intel Core i5 or i7 processor whilst MacBook Pro 2016 is believed to run the Skylake processors. For this reason, MacBook Pro 2016 is expeted to be a powerful machine .

Similarities

MacBook Pro 2016 is expected to run the same operating system the macOS Sierra but the newer version. The news mac is also perceived to retain the 3.5mm headphone jack which is featured in the older macs. In addition, the Force Touch trackpad and 802.11ac Wi-Fi are two other similarities that can be found in the new and old macs.
