University of Pittsburgh offers college courses to be taught in high schools at the Bellefonte Area. The program is soon to start and college courses will be offered aside from subjects for Advanced Program.

This move aimed to shorten the number of years that students need to complete college education. This was different from AP or advanced programs because more college subject would be offered. Students would receive credits for the courses they take. The University of Pittsburgh would see to it that credits to these courses would be easy to transfer. and they could carry this to the University of Pittsburgh and to other colleges, according to Centre Daily Times.

New courses that the University of Pittsburgh will offer include to be offered by the University of Pitts general chemistry, Calculus I, Analytic Geometry, Western Civilization II, American politics and Introduction to Psychology.

The three-credit subjects will cost students $227 each. Only students who could pass the subject with an average Grade of C will earn credits for college.

The University of Pittsburgh had other high schools partners other programs to shorten college years were promoted. Other high schools such as the DIETRICH School of Arts and Sciences partnered with the university. Their students took college courses in their classrooms using college level textbooks. Teachers handling advanced college courses were trained by the university to use its style of teaching. The credits the students earned would appear in their transcripts when they study at the university, according to The Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences

Aside from college in high school program, the university also had an accelerated high school program. This is open to students in their junior or senior year aged at least 16 years old. They are allowed to take their college courses at the university campus in Oakland while completing their high school in the high school where he is enrolled.
