The college application process is an undeniably tedious process and is also time consuming. The preparation part alone should begin as early as possible so as to make sure that all the deadlines are met, especially when you are trying to narrow down your options from a number of schools.

Most college applications also ask a lot of information that an average teen may not have readily available so in order for you to ensure you do not miss anything out, here is a checklist to keep you guided.

Application forms

This is one of the basic, yet most important things required in your admissions process. It is important for you to ensure that you have reviewed the application instructions carefully, according to Daily News & Analysis and be accurate in filling out information on the forms. Before having them submitted, also review them to make sure it's free of errors.

Application fees

Your application fee is usually required in order for you to submit your application forms and if it is too high, you can go ahead and check if you are eligible for a waiver. Fee waivers are very helpful so you can submit your application free of charge.

Standardized test scores

Your SAT/ACT scores on your college application, together with your official score reports will be required for your application, according to Khan Academy. They should be sent directly from the College Board or the ACT to the college you are applying for.

Transcripts

Most of the colleges and universities require official grades for the subjects you have studied in high school as well as the credits you have earned. They are usually sent by your guidance counselor from your high school to your colleges so make sure you keep them informed of the schools you are applying for.

Essays

Essays are usually your writing that justifies why you are a right fit for the college based on their specific requirements.

Teacher Recommendations

The recommendations from your teachers are meant to give your colleges an information about your academic performance inside the classroom.
