WAYZATA, Minn. (Sept. 9, 2025) — Former North Dakota State University football player William David Frattalone, 20, has been charged with felony theft after authorities say he stole a designer bag containing luxury items—including a $228,000 Rolex watch—from a boat docked at Maynard's Restaurant on Lake Minnetonka.
Prosecutors said the Louis Vuitton duffel bag, worth $2,400, also held limited-edition clothing valued around $25,000, between $5,000 and $10,000 in cash, a $400 bottle of cologne, a passport, and Apple AirPods.
According to the criminal complaint, Frattalone was later seen attempting to enter the restaurant with the bag before staff confronted him. He allegedly claimed his "parents were wealthy and would write a check for whatever was inside."
Investigators executed a search warrant at Frattalone's home, recovering the bag and clothing but not the Rolex, which remains missing. A video found on his phone reportedly showed footage of the boat and storage area where the items were taken.
Frattalone, who was part of the 2024 roster, has since been kicked off the NDSU football team, head coach Tim Polasek confirmed. "William Frattalone has been dismissed from the NDSU football team for a violation of team rules... and will not be considered to re-join the team in any fashion," Polasek said in a statement.
Frattalone faces a felony theft charge in Hennepin County District Court. If convicted, he could face up to 20 years in prison.
