"Half-Life 3" seems to be taking forever to be released; however, Valve has yet to give any substantial announcement about the long-awaited "Half-Life" sequel.

"Half-Life 2: Episode 3" Turned "Half-Life 3"?

"Half-Life 2: Episode One" came out around a decade ago, while the second episode was released on 2007. There was supposed to be an Episode Three but game developer Valve had a change of heart. Instead, Valve head Gabe Newell at that time said that the upcoming "Half-Life 3" will be divided into three small episodes. After that announcement, however, there have been little substantial news about the upcoming "Half-Life" installment.

Alleged Leaked Concept Art For "Half-Life 2: Episode 3"

In 2012, a number of purported concept arts for "Half-Life 2: Episode 3" began floating around the Internet; however, Valve has not confirmed or denied the drawings, and since "Half-Life 2: Episode 3" has never materialized, we will never know for sure. Valve Cancels "Return to Ravenholm" Or "Half-Life 2: Episode 4"

The task of developing the fourth episode of "Half-Life 2" was assigned to Arkane Studios; however, it was cancelled by Valve because nothing new could be introduced to the game, according to PCgames. This seems to indicate that all "Half-Life" projects have been put on hold.

Possibility of "Half-Life 3" And Rumored Release Date

It seems ironic that a game developer has lost interest in developing a game that has a substantial and devoted fan base even though nine years have passed since the last installment was released. There are speculations that the third "Half-Life" installment may come out on 2018 in celebration of the franchise's 20^th anniversary or maybe 2028 in celebration of the 30^th anniversary of the original game. Honestly, only Valve can determine when "Half-Life 3" will be released, but fans should not hold their breath though.
