Microsoft is continuing its efforts to be the company that offers top-of-the-line 2-in-1 tablet/hybrids. Should students wait for the Microsoft Surface Pro 5?

It was previously reported that the upcoming Microsoft Surface phone can help college students since its specs will focus on productivity and security. It is rumored that the Microsoft Surface Phone will have Win32 apps, which is Microsoft's core business. Students can choose from a suite of productivity apps for the programs that they need the most.

It was noted that the Surface Phone will have two sizes: a 5.5-inch screen and a 6-inch screen. Moreover, inside, it has three variants: one with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage, another with 6 GB RAM and 128 GB storage as well as one with 8 GB RAM and 512 GB storage.

The large RAM size is perfect for a seamless launch and use of apps. Moreover, the large storage size is great for keeping documents and other files that college students use in their coursework.

Meanwhile, Microsoft Surface Pro 5 specs may feature Skylake's successor, "Kaby Lake." CNET reported that Intel has confirmed that the new processor would be launched by the end of this year.

With the possible launch of Kaby Lake at the end of 2016, it is highly likely that the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 release date would be scheduled for spring 2017. There are speculations that it will happen on October next year, just in time for the start of classes.

A lot of people are excited about what Microsoft will do about the Surface Pro 5's keyboard cover. While the keyboard has always been a vital component of the device, the company has also always sold the keyboard cover separately - which does not make a lot of sense. There are high hopes that Microsoft will finally include the cover in Surface Pro 5's base price.

According to Patently Mobile, the company has filed a patent application for a rechargeable Surface Pen and dock. With this, the accessory's battery would be replaced by a rechargeable battery. This would definitely be much more convenient for users.
