A week before the most anticipated MacBook Pro 2016 release date, HP Envy 13 will hit the store shelves. Will this new and improved HP laptop eclipse the upcoming MacBook Pro with its better battery and performance?

HP Envy 13 Upgrades

HP has made considerable upgrades to their powerful Envy 13 laptop that is expected to be Apple's nightmare. Under the hood, upgrades and design enhancements of HP Envy 13 laptops are expected to compete with the upcoming MacBook Pro 2016.

Starting off with the physical design, HP wrapped the laptop's sleeker body with aluminum and magnesium that will feature a full-HD or quad-HD display. According to The Verge, the quad-display will be available as a touch screen.

Furthermore, HP increased the new Envy 13 battery capacity to 28 percent larger compared to its predecessor. The larger battery can lasts up to 14 hours and is said to be equipped with a fast charging that could charge up to 90 percent in 90 minutes.

Under the hood, HP Envy 13 is powered by the seventh-generation of Core 75 and i7 processors, known as the Intel Kaby Lake. The laptop has a built-in 16GB of RAM and 1TB storage capacity.

For the ports, the new Envy 13 featured a USB 3.1 Type C and two USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports, alongside HDMI. For its wireless connectivity, the laptop features a 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth version 4.2.

In comparison to older Envy, the upcoming one is considered to be evolutionary rather than revolutionary. According to PC World, the only difference of the two is the USB 3.1 and Intel Kaby Lake CPU, which the older one doesn't have.

Price and Release Date

The new Envy 13 laptop, or referred to as HP Envy 13-ab016nr, will hit the store shelves on Oct. 26, one day before the launching of the upcoming MacBook Pro 2016. Envy 13 price will start at $849, $50 lower from its predecessor's $899 price.
