The world's 2016 record for the Best Universities places University of Oxford on top. At the heat of the "Brexit" issues, academics are left to wonder whether such record could further reinforce UK's current recouping of former academic glory.

Instead of joining the speculations of co-academics, the Oxford University vice-chancellor rather utter sure words of warning that the "Brexit" cold potentially damage long-term prospects, SG Secure reported.

For the first time, the oldest university in an English-speaking world tops the global education chart. However, this isn't the first time that the university almost made it to the number one spot. For the record, the university has bred a notable population of British elites through time.

Editor of the ranking system, Phil Baty disclosed to media that the current ranking of the university in the spot is credited to its research funding rate increase to a total 1.4 billion pounds (US$1.83 billion). A lot of experts were undecided but were finally swayed with Baty's theory. Research funding rate increases are very essential milestones for any universities to reach a global education ranking.

However, the Brexit's threat cannot be dismissed. Apparently, it can make the attraction of high-profile academic figures, investors and even students difficult. As a consequence, large-scale research projects could drag off in the long run, especially since, competing universities are fishing figures that could potentially mar the research funding rate record attained by university, Times Higher Education reported.

Despite such odds, University of Exford academics are still hoping that its recently-earned title might somehow end up as a probable academic reinforcement against threatening Brexit.

Here is the list of the top 10 Best Universities in the World:
