Atlus announced today that Persona 5 will launch in Japan for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 on September 15. However, the American release date has yet been announced but according to Atlus' last statement, Persona 5 is still expected to be fully released in 2016. Thus, speculations suggest that Atlus will confirm the western release when Persona 5 appears at this year's E3 in Los Angeles, which will happen sometime in June.

In the following statement which reads that the strengths of the Persona series are the convincing characters, the moving and relatable storyline and a mediocre fascination with details, elements which cannot be taken lightly. So while Atlus recognize the disappointment and frustration that this has caused the JRPG fandom, the company is delaying the game in order to assure the next iteration of the Persona series meets to the expectations of supporters, Atlus said referring to the delay in 2015 and unidentified American release.

The latest trailer which confirmed the date for release date in Japan also revealed that there will be new party members and an upcoming twist in gameplay.

The trailer also hints the return of many elements of the series which fans recognize: discomfited misunderstandings at the beach, dungeon crawling in bizarre environments, unrecognizable appearance of bosses, sinister Velvet Room entourage and the day by day dramas of high school life.

A 20th anniversary-themed Persona 5 Collector's Edition was also announced in Japan which includes a soundtrack with songs from previous Persona games, an art book and series-inspired outfits from Persona 3 and 4. A collector's set will be available at 13,800 yen. However, no western version of the Collector's Edition has not been confirmed which could cost roughly $128.
