Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 Specs & News: Tablet’s Disappointing Chipset, MWC 2017 Launch Expected

By

A new tablet is being prepared by Samsung and it's bound to reach consumers' hands soon. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 is expected to be launched next month.

New details about the Galaxy Tab S3 have leaked from China. The report posted on microblogging site Weibo (via GSM Arena) claimed that the tablet will be powered by the Exynos 7420 chipset along with 4GB of RAM. Other expected features include a fingerprint sensor below the Home button, a USB Type-C port and UFS 2.0 storage technology.

This month also saw the Galaxy Tab S3 getting its Bluetooth certification, which means that the tablet is nearing its unveiling. Samsung originally planned to launch the Galaxy Tab S3 last year, but the Galaxy Note 7 battery fiasco may have pushed the South Korean tech giant to delay the tablet. The Galaxy Tab S3's release was then pushed to Q1 2017.

The report claimed that there will be two Galaxy Tab S3 versions available for consumers: an LTE (SM-T825) model and Wi-Fi only (SM-T820). The tablet's internal storage, however, is still unknown like its price and availability.

The Galaxy Tab S3 also received its Wi-Fi certification from the WiFi Alliance (WFA) this month, according to a separate report from GSM Arena. Its listing carried a model number of SM-T825.

The Galaxy Tab S3 is expected to bear the same design as its predecessor, the Galaxy Tab S2. However, it's also possible that the upcoming tablet will sport a newer and more striking design so it can attract consumers despite its slightly outdated chipset, which is also found in the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge, WCCF Tech pointed out.

Although, there are expectations that the Galaxy Tab S3 will be launched at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017 in Barcelona in late February. The trade show will not unveil any flagship smartphones, so it makes sense that Samsung will launch a new tablet instead to compensate.

Take note that these are all speculations at the moment and an official word from Samsung is yet to be had. It looks like users won't have to wait that long, though, if the Galaxy Tab S3 will indeed be unveiled at MWC 2017.
