Apple Rumor: iPad Mini Discontinued as iPad Pro 2 Brand New Variant Released in 2017?

By

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo who has made accurate predictions about Apple released products so far - has claimed that the Cupertino giant aims to introduce three variants of iPad Pro without mentioning anything about the iPad Mini.

Apple rumor: There is no iPad Mini 5?

Currently, the fourth generation of the Mini is a 9.7 inch tablet and many have assumed that it will likely be discontinued since the demand of smallest tablet is low due to the birth of iPhone 7 Plus with 5.5-inch screen, MacRumor reported.

And let's not forget Kuo's statement which claims that the new variant of iPad Pro 2 will have 10.5 inch screen, as University Herald reported previously. It will not make sense to release iPad Pro 2 and iPad Mini 5 simultaneously as many have assumed that people would pick the Pro or go for the iPhone 7 for a smaller gadget instead.

Apple rumor: What the rants speculate about iPad Mini 5 specs

The previous rants and wishlists of iPad Mini 5 specs include the absence of 3.5 mm headphone jack - as it is in the iPhone 7 series. It will probably come with water resistant and 3D Touch pressure sensitive screen, too.

The iPad Mini 4 comes with a slim design and it can be argued that if the Mini 5 does arrive, it will sport an even thinner design although it may sacrifice the battery capacity. iPad Mini 5 might feature ultra-fast charging for user-convenience and the storage base is strongly believed that Apple may up the memory - at least 32 GB.

Apple rumor: Will iPad Mini 5 have a release date?

The speculations circulating through the web have all agreed that Apple could release the iPad lineup in March 2017. Hence, whether we will see the iPad Mini 5 or a replacement for the device - probably iPad Mini Pro - the fans will have to stay tuned.
