Nintendo has some high aspirations for their Nintendo Switch Units sales as they plan to ship 10 million units this fiscal year. President Tatsumi Kimishima believes that they could raise the installed base of the console system up to the same level as the Wii.

Nintendo To Ship 10 Million Units

Kimishima said on Nintendo's financial results briefing that the game company is planning to ship 10 million Switch units this fiscal year. He noted that the figure they are proposing was taken into account with the great response from their fans and the consumers that purchased the hybrid console system on Day One, according to the official website of Nintendo.

The fiscal year in Japan starts on April 1 and it ends on March 31 of the following year. In the previous financial year, which was the time when the Switch was only on sale for one month, they shipped about 2.74 million units. This result was more than 2 million they had first estimated, VG247 reported.

Nintendo to Manufacture More Than 10 Million Units

Nintendo actually plans to avoid a situation where the Nintendo Switch will be scarce in retail stores. Kimishima revealed that they are planning to produce more than 10 million units, and it will include the units their warehouse and in-transit product. He admitted that they are not currently producing this full amount all at once.

The Nintendo president explained that they are expecting that the number of consumers who want to purchase the hybrid console system to increase as they launch more game titles for it. This is the reason why their current production model takes that into account.

Nintendo Switch To Get "Thumper" Soon

In other Nintendo Switch related news, the console system will get the rhythm-violence game "Thumper" very soon, and it will be available in the Nintendo Switch eShop. Game developer Drool revealed that interested consumers will be able to purchase the Switch version of the game on May 18. It will run at 1080p and 60 frames per second while the console is docked, and at 720p 60 FPS while in handheld mode, Gamespot reported.
