Google has started rolling out Chrome 57 to Android following the release to Mac, Windows, and Linux last week. The update release brings Custom Tabs with more display controls, web apps now have access to Android's apps drawer, notifications, and other web functions.

The last version of Chrome for Android was somewhat limited. However, with Chrome 57 for Android, the Chrome Custom Tabs iteration brings bookmarking, downloading, request desktop site, full controls, and lot more. The new feature "Add to Home screen" is now featured in Progressive Web Apps.

Do note that this feature appears in the app drawer and in system settings in their own 'App info' page, according to 9To5Google. However, there are still not many users or websites make use of Progressive Web Apps, which means this new feature in Chrome 57 will not make too much of a dent.

The new Chrome 57 Android version now also suggests articles on the New Tab page, recently opened search engine as the default, Physical Web suggestions from the address bar. Additionally, Find in page functionality can also be used as an option in apps to open web pages, according to Wccftech.

One feature that is worth taking notice is its data saving feature. Chrome's Data Saver claims to be able to save on data usage by up to 50 percent while browsing the web on Chrome 57 for Android.

Notifications show additional controls with the new Media Session API. Sites can now provide more metadata to the browser, this, in turn, provides notifications with background artwork for the device lock screens, title, artist and album info, the feature looks great on Android Wear too.

The new Chrome 57 for Android release comes with stability fixes is now available for download from the Play Store. It can also be installed using APK signed by Google. Both processes simply upgrade the existing Chrome version you have on your device.
