Details are still scarce about "Stranger Things" Season 2, but fans already know that the new episodes will once again showcase a monster (or monsters) from the Upside Down. New characters are going to be introduced, too, and some unexpected ones will make a comeback.

Those who are hoping for Barb (Shannon Purser) to return, however, will be disappointed. The unfortunate teenager really has died in the clutches of the Demogorgon. Dr. Brenner (Matthew Modine), on the other hand, may return in some form.

The Demogorgon seemed to have devoured the wicked doctor in the Season 1 finale, with the scene cutting away quickly. Fans assumed that the doctor perished, but Modine shared an interesting Instagram post this week. The image promotes the highly popular Netflix show's second season, promising that more will be "revealed, uncovered."

Co-showrunner Matt Duffer already teased that Dr. Brenner may return in Season 2, though his role in Hawkins, Indiana has already been replaced by Paul Reiser's Dr. Owens. The latter will oversee the laboratory and control the supernatural goings-on in the town. That also involves cleaning up the horrendous events in the first season.

Co-showrunner Ross Duffer said that viewers won't know whether to trust Dr. Owens or not, Entertainment Weekly reported. Reiser teased a scene with David Harbour's Jim Hopper where the latter is holding him accountable for the strange things happening in Hawkins. In that scene, Dr. Owens is trying to convince him that everything is a-okay.

Dr. Owens, however, is different than Dr. Brenner because he has "more humanity" while the latter exhibited this "looming, powerful presence" that was only amplified by his too few spoken words. Dr. Owens is "much more hands-on" and possesses a bedside manner that Dr. Brenner didn't bother with. Reiser's character will also try to make the town and its inhabitants trust him.

Harbour recently told TV Guide that the cast and crew of "Stranger Things" are feeling pressured and "completely terrified" over the reception that Season 2 will get. They want the new season to be better than the first and that seems to be the case.

The actor teased that Season 2 is "really exciting," saying that Hopper's story arc will be "rich" and "compelling." A new monster resembling the Thessalhydra will threaten the town, and it's possible that it is connected with Will (Noah Schnapp), who appears to have been infected by the Upside Down.
