Fans finally got their first-look at Johnny Depp's return as Captain Jack Sparrow in "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales." The previous trailer of the "Pirates of the Caribbean 5" lacked footage of the notorious pirate, but the movie's Super Bowl 2017 spot made up for it.

Depp's clip as Jack Sparrow follows months of speculations regarding his future on the "Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise. It was previously rumored that the fifth film would be his final outing as the rum-loving pirate, as the show changes its sails to move to a new direction.

"Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" has been dubbed as a reboot of sorts and will pave the way for a younger generation of characters to lead the franchise as it moves forward.

"The Giver" actor Brenton Thwaites has been cast to play Henry Turner, son of Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) and Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley). "Pirates of the Caribbean 5" will touch upon the father-son relationship of Henry and Will. It's already been established that there's a curse that's keeping them apart from each other. Mirror reported, however, that Thwaites revealed that his character will try to defeat the curse in order to save his father.

Starring alongside Thwaites is "Maze Runner" actress Kaya Scodelario, who's playing Carina. In an interview with Digital Spy, Scodelario revealed that there's more to her character than just her good looks.

"[Carina] is an astronomer, and she is an academic. She's fighting for the right to study at university, because women couldn't at that time," Scodelario said. "So she's on her own journey - looking for the Trident of Poseidon - and she has a diary with clues, and she encounters Jack Sparrow along the way, and he messes everything up." There are also speculations that Scodelario's Carina is the daughter of Captain Barbossa.

"Pirates of the Caribbean 5" also stars Javier Bardem as the villain Captain Salazar. In the official synopsis, Captain Salazar is "determined to kill every pirate at sea," including Captain Jack Sparrow.

"Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" will hit theaters on July 7.
