‘Outlander’ Season 3 Spoilers: Jamie, Claire Will Still Be In Love After 20 Years? Cast Talks About Their Characters’ Fateful ReunionBy Annie Dee, UniversityHerald Reporter
"Outlander" Season 3 is currently in production, and fans are growing more and more excited to see Jamie and Claire reunite through the stones after having been separated by decades apart. The next time we see the couple, 20 years will have elapsed. Some things have changed over the course of two decades, thus Jamie and Claire's reunion will have unusualness to it.
"It's kind of a surprise for Jamie. Obviously within a day of her returning, all hell breaks loose. His world is turned upside down, just like every time Claire is involved," actor Sam Heughan said about the highly awaited reunion, as quoted by CinemaBlend. "I think the printshop obviously is going to be hopefully everything that we wanted it to be."
Jamie and Claire's reunion 20 years later will not be easy. For the most part, the characters will feel as though they are falling in love with each other all over again like it was the first time that they'd met.
"I think both of them have probably held each other up on a pedestal for 20 years, so in many ways, they're going to have to destroy that image first before they can fall in love with the person right in front of them, and that's going to be really interesting," actress Caitriona Balfe told Variety.
Unlike the previous seasons where they're constantly together, Heughan and Balfe don't have as much screen time together as they previously did. Heughan revealed that filming without Balfe around most of the time kind of felt like filming a different show. He also explained as he finds it difficult to separate himself from his character, he sympathizes for Jamie and understands how difficult it is for Jamie and Claire to be separated. In real life, he finds that being separated from Balfe is also very difficult mostly because she is a great actress and very great to work with.
Meanwhile, "Outlander" Season 3 will begin with the Battle of Culloden, where Jamie and Randall with have a bloody duel on the field. The fight is one of the largest set pieces every seen in the show, and is full of drama as Jamie executes the ultimate against Randall.
