It seems that there has been a strong stream of movies being released based off of video games as of late. With the recent debut of "Assassin's Creed," which was based off the same name as the video game franchise by Ubisoft and starring acclaimed actor Michael Fassbender alongside Marion Cotillard, it seems that movie buffs and film afficionados can get expect another triple-A game hitting the big screens. Reports have shown that the "Uncharted" movie and its script is already in the works. This is added good news for the franchise as the game, "Uncharted 4," has already shown a big leap in sales in 2016, according to sources.

It was recently reported that after a longtime being stagnant, the development for the "Uncharted" movie has recently taken leap forward, Cinemablend noted. It was stated therein that the film's script has already been finished. Moreover, the movie's screenwriter, Joe Carnahan shared to fans an image of the the screenplay over the internet.

The screenwriter for the "Uncharted" movie shared the photo via his Instagram account where he wrote in its caption that the script is already done and that he is highly confident about its quality by even referring to it as a "BEAST."

Joe Carnahan, who has previously taken interest in directing the "Uncharted" movie, is known for other films, such as "The A-Team," "The Grey," "State of Affairs," and much more. However, it was also stated that he will be focusing his efforts towards directing the anticipated "Bad Boys for Life."

That being said, it was said that Shawn Levy (known for the film "Real Steel" starring Hugh Jackman) will be taking the helm for the "Uncharted" movie.

On top of this, it seems that the franchise is doing pretty well as of late since it was also reported that "Uncharted 4" was able to sell 8.7 million copies in 2016, Forbes learned. The source pointed out that this was a big leap for the game in terms of its lifetime sales for its previous installments, which were around 5 million, 6.6 million, and 6.7 million copies sold respectively.

That being said, fans can't deny that "Uncharted 4" has proven itself successful for the franchise, more so with the upcoming "Uncharted" movie.
