Qualcomm officially announced Thursday that its latest chipset Snapdragon 835 will be launched at CES 2017.

Qualcomm tweeted on Thursday that it will be unveiling Snapdragon 835 chipset at the biggest consumer electronics event in 2017. There are several posts, one of which indicates that it will showcase the chip's compatibility and capability for VR.

Snapdragon 835 Benchmarks Leaked

Qualcomm's upcoming chipset visits GeekBench and the result shows a not-so impressive scores. The octa-core processor has 1844 points for single-core and 5426 points for multi-core.

This isn't the result expected by the tech crowds since the score is only a slight different from 821 series.  In fact, Phone Arena has found out that when compared to Kirin 960, the result outshines 835 chip's. Snapdragon 835 will pack Adreno 540 - a GPU with 30 percent more power than Adreno 530.

Snapdragon 835 to Power Samsung Galaxy S8, LG G6 and Xiaomi Mi 6

The chipset is said to power premium devices in 2017. With the Snapdragon 835 under the hoods of these top-tier devices, they are expected to have a consistent performance while being battery-efficient, TomsGuide reported.

The premium handsets expected to sport Snapdragon 835 include Xiaomi Mi 6, Galaxy S8 and LG G6, according to GSM Arena. The SoC also supports USB type C port and quick-charging feature.

The capability of this chip is now linked to those handsets' possible specs. Could Xiaomi Mi 6 be getting a major technical overhaul, or will there be new features that LG bring to its flagship G6?
