Most fans and avid gamers alike would agree that it has been long time since the developers of the critically-acclaimed action-adventure hack and slash video game franchise, "Devil May Cry," have announced any news of a fifth installment to the series. However, fans have been keeping their fingers crossed in the hopes of a "Devil May Cry 5" might be released after Capcom has announced that they are reviving some old titles. In other news, Ninja Theory's own "Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice" has been delayed further.

It was previously reported that rumors of a "Devil May Cry 5" have been sparked due to a leaked image hinting at a possible release of a fifth installment to the franchise, University Herald has learned. It was stated therein that Norwegian voice actor, Nils Hognestad, was said to have listed the game "Devil May Cry 5" as part of the many roles in his resume.

Despite the said rumor to have revitalized the interest of many to the idea of a "Devil May Cry 5" being released in the future, the said rumor was unfortunately debunked by other sources.

This time around, it seems that fans, who are hoping for a possible "Devil May Cry 5," are now focusing and turning their attention on the recent announcement by Capcom and their intention to revive some of their older IPs, Attack of the Fanboy reported.

It was mentioned by the source that the acclaimed "Devil May Cry" developer, Capcom, has released a press statement (after their announcement of the highly-anticipated "Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite) telling their fans that the company will be focused on reviving its dormant IPs and/or other series that have not received any new entries.

That being said, fans have speculated for a "Devil May Cry 5" to be in the works, as well. The fact that "DmC" didn't fare well to most fans of the franchise, the source noted that this could be enough of a reason for Capcom to release a fifth installment some time soon.

In other news, Ninja Theory (known for its contribution in "DmC") recently announced that the release date for its "Hellbalde: Senua's Sacrifice" will be pushed back further, Gamespot reported. It was mentioned that the game will be released in 2017 due to a shift in launch window after a separate project was cancelled.

With all these said, it seems that fans hoping for a "Devil May Cry 5" might have to wait a bit longer until more news pop up to confirm the fifth installment.
