Android 7.0 Nougat for Sony Xperia

Sony Xperia Z3 and Z3 compact are the first devices to have received the latest Android 7.0 Nougat updates on Nov. 8. Some of the features brought by Sony's interpretation on the latest Android beta program include notification enhancements, multi-window support and few tweaks on key interface.

It can be recalled that Sony has crowd-sourced the coding of what they called "Concept for Android." Several developers have participated and came up with the first build that runs in Marshmallow-operated Sony Xperia Z3, and as expected, the rolling out did not run smooth because of some expected bugs but nonetheless the firmware update contributes to having longer and stable battery life of the phone, according to Xperia Blog.

Despite the reported good outcome, Sony has announced that the concept releases for Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact is likely to end because the said handsets will not be updated to Android 7.0 Nougat. Having said that, Sony said that Xperia X will be the flag-bearer of the "Concept for Android" software.

Sony Xperia X "Concept for Android" Features

Sony clarified that not all Xperia X handsets will be eligible for the update. Anyone in Europe who owns an Sony Xperia X with model number F5121 are qualified to join through signing up in Google Play and download the Concept Installer app, according to Neurogadget.

However, users are advised to take precautionary steps such as securing data back-ups in case of data lost during the process. Once the user completes the process, he will be given two options: update track for monthly software updates and experimental track for weekly updates.
