Some may think that celebrities, artists, musicians and performers have had the good life. But they all start out as normal people. And some of them have lived a difficult life.

They often start from harsh beginnings and struggled to make it through. You may not see it now because of the glitz and glamour of Hollywood, but some celebrities struggled to find food and education in their early childhood.

Malala Yousafzai

Take Malala Yousafzai for instance. This young woman is the youngest recipient ever to receive the Nobel Peace Prize, cites Telegraph. She was born in the Khyber Pashtunkhwa province of Pakistan where girls were not allowed to attend school since the area was dominated by the Taliban.

At 11 years old, Malala was an outspoken blogger under a pseudonym. At 15 years old, she survived an assassination attempt after speaking out regarding girls' rights to education and more. She is now an active campaigner for the girls' right to an education.

Oprah Winfrey

TV personality and talk show host Oprah Winfrey defied a difficult childhood. She was sexually abused by relatives at a young age. As a young girl, she worked her way up to earn her name and personal brand. She landed a job at a radio station before graduating from school. Now, she champions human rights and rallies against abuse everywhere. In addition, she has funded over 400 scholarships to Morehouse College, Atlanta.

Charlie Chaplin

You may know Charlie Chaplin for his funny silent film antics. But he had his share of difficulties too. He spent his childhood in pauper schools. His mother was admitted to mental institutions. He worked hard until he reached 30 years old. He was then considered as the biggest star in the world at that time. His silent film acting as Adolf Hitler in "The Great Dictator" made him a Hollywood heavyweight. Awarded with three Oscars, the French Légion d'Honneur and a British knighthood, Chaplin is still considered a cinema genius.

Not everyone has lived a good life in the beginning but then they break through it and gained success and achievements after.
