The long awaited Nintendo NX is finally revealed and is now called the Nintendo Switch.

The trailer reveal was dropped today and people were ecstatic to see that the 3-minute video posted on Nintendo's website showed a hybrid console-handheld with detachable controllers. The device itself looks like a docking tablet that can be hooked up to a display or TV via its 'Switch Dock,' The Next Web has learned.

Nintendo Switch has 2 detachable controllers that can be attached to the tablet sides, allowing for a portable play. The controllers or 'Joy-Cons' can be detached from the main unit and can be used separately for multi-play or can be popped into a 'Joy-Con Grip' transforming it into a what resembles like a traditional wireless controller. The gamer also has the option of using a different controller known as the Switch Pro.

The device can 'switch' from one mode into another seamlessly, even during active gameplay. It also gave us a glimpse of what games to expect that can be played on the Nintendo Switch. It also has a built-in kickstand and a car mount accessory. One more feature is that it uses cartridges too, simply called 'Game Cards.'

Seeing how the new hybrid looks and functions, it can be truly said that the Nintendo Switch can fully address the divide between PlayStation, Xbox consoles and portable consoles such as the company-owned Nintendo 3DS.

Another novel idea pointed out by The Telegraph is that the consoles can link together, wherein up to 4 people can play on 2 separate screens or 4 people can link together and play using separate screens.

It is confirmed the Nintendo Switch carries a custom Nvidia Tegra Processor using Nvidia's latest Pascal 16mm microarchitecture. Nvidia even said in a statement that the Switch's gaming experience is supported by fully custom software and a revamped physics engine. They created new gaming API's and NVN's, and further enhanced hardware-accelerated video playback coupled with custom software for audio effects and rendering.

The price of the Nintendo Switch was accidentally leaked on a landing page by a company in the United Kingdom that was quickly taken down. It listed the then named NX at £349.
