Samsung has a lot riding on the intended release of the Galaxy S8. Rumors say it may come in 2 variants.

Still fresh in people's minds is the debacle brought about by the Galaxy Note7. Samsung is in a phase of winning back customer trust and confidence so the pressure is on for the team handling Samsung Galaxy S8. The intended release is said to be still on track for Feb. 2017.

There are rumors that there might be an early release for the unit to counter losses brought about by the catastrophic Galaxy Note7. According to Korean Herald, KB Investment & Securities brought the suggestion for an early unveiling of the Galaxy S8. It does make sense but an early release is still speculation at this point.

With a lot riding on the Galaxy S8, let us tackle part of what to expect of its rumored specs. It is rumored to have two variants: One featuring a 5.1-inch curved 2K Super AMOLED display and the other with a 5.5-inch 4K display for VR. It has a dual-lens camera system on the back like the iPhone 7 Plus and it might also feature the Viv virtual assistant said to replace S voice.

The Galaxy 8 would likely carry the 10nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 830 processor for the global market and the Samsung's in-house Exynos 8895 for other markets. It might ditch the 3.5mm jack and replace it with the newer USB-C.

From PC Advisor, we gather it might also carry the ARM Mali-G71 GPU and a Qualcomm X16 modem which can support 1Gbps download speeds like an LTE Cat. 16, but of course, the speed is still dependent on your phone networks capability. The Galaxy 8 will run Android Nougat with Touch Wiz UI. It is also speculated to be capable of dual-booting Android and Windows.
