As much as the Surface Book fans want to hear about the beloved successor, Microsoft is highly unlikely to reveal any Surface devices in its October hardware event.

Surface Book 2 possible specifications

Microsoft might equip the Surface Book 2 with Intel Kaby Lake - a powerful processor rumored to be placed under the hood of Macbook Pro 2016 as well. However, with the recently launched Kaby Lake - it would not make sense for Surface Book 2 to arrive soon, as early as next month. The possible release date would be early 2017.

Microsoft could break the norm by launching major upgrades in the Surface tablet lineup, for instance, smoother and improved hinge. Analysts speculate other components that will possibly be present in Surface Book 2; that is the 4K display and VR-ready feature.

Surface Book 2: When is the release date?

Many rants have speculated that the second generation of Surface Book will be revealed sometime in 2017. ZDNet is made to aware that the Surface Book 2, alongside Surface Pro 5 will have a 2017 release date. The sources went on to say that the October event is about the all-in-one PCs - in three variants - and the company could also roll out minor updates of the existing Surface devices and newer processors.

This rumor contradicts the pattern that Microsoft have used as the company brought Surface Pro 4 and introduced Lumia 950 in October last year.

As for the AIO PCs - it is no longer news since The Verge has already reported that Microsoft was testing what's believed to be the 'Surface Book alternative' in June. The report continues to say that it is nothing like Dell, Lenovo or Apple desktops.

During the time, it was unclear whether the device will see the light of day. Now that the rants strongly believe it will - then it makes more sense for the Surface Book 2 to 'allow its alternative' to be launched first before it makes an appearance in a separate event later.
