Nompumelelo "Mpumi" Nobiva attended Oprah Winfrey's Leadership Academy for Girls in 2007. She was one of the 72 girls that first attended Winfrey's school. Nobiva just graduated with honors from Johnson C Smith University in North Carolina and plans to pursue some worthy endeavors.

Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls Legacy

Oprah Winfrey's Leadership Academy for Girls greatly helped Nobiva when it came to her education. With the loss of her parents at a young age, Nobiva was unable to fund for her education if not for Winfrey's school, Eyewitness News reported. She is appreciative of the chance that she had and plans to use her honors degree in a way that gives back. Nobiva intends to use her degree to take a stand and advocate for women just like her.

Nobiva is joined by another Oprah Winfrey school alumna, Noluthando "Thando" Dlomo. She is also a graduate of the Johnson C Smith University just like her, ContactMusic.com noted. The former talk show queen celebrated with the graduates where Oprah posted about it with her congratulations on her Instagram.


Oprah Winfrey Receives Honorary Doctorate from Johnson C Smith University

Earlier this month, Winfrey delivered a commencement speech at the Johnson C Smith University. She also received an honorary doctorate from the institution, USA Today shared. In her address, she quoted an inspiring Maya Angelou quote. She said, "Your crown has been paid for and your No. 1 job is to put it on your head and wear it."

On the latest news about Winfrey, she will be one of the biggest names in the entertainment industry to hand out Tony Awards. She is joined by Saoirse Ronan, James Corden, Carole King, Cate Blanchett, Nathan Lane and Audra McDonald, CBS Local wrote.
