Associate professor of political science, John McAdams, is on war with Marquette University after he publicly said that gay-marriage is discussable. The critic that went viral caused McAdams' suspended by the school.

The letter to McAdams

The professor banned from campus without getting a pay for the following month. The university sent an official statement that McAdams should write a letter admitting his reckless behavior that does not adhere to Marquette University values. The university hopes McAdams to express his regret of challenging the instructor. Marquette believes McAdams has mistreated a former student and rejects the judgment addressed at Faculty Hearing Committee.

McAdams replies it by filing a lawsuit

The professor and Wisconsin Institute for Law & Liberty are planning to sue Marquette. The files have been sent to Milwaukee County Cicruit Court, as reported by the Fox6 News.

The reason? Breach of contract.

The conflict happened in 2014 where a student complained because the instructor wasn't allowing any gay marriage discussion, considering it as offensive and homophobic. The graduate-student who teaches philosophy class, according to McAdams, was using tactic among liberals. He also commented on the students debate is their right to disagree. McAdams also explained that the reason argued by the teacher is simplified as 'the need to be shut them up'. His critic goes viral as Marquette Warrior blogs about it.

According to Rick Esenberg, this is an important and sensitive case closely related to academic freedom. The issue is huge in the country but the university decision to shut the topic of the radar might mean a constituted harassment. Campus should be the place for academics to freely express their views on certain matters.

Marquette spokesperson stated in an email, that the university is ready to address the issue in court so that it may be clear how Dr. McAdams is violating regulations and put a former student in a threat after detailing her personal information to public in his blog, including where she is studying at. According to the university, his blogs represent a personal attack that sends hateful messages.
