Augusta Uwamanzu-Nna, 17, class valedictorian at Elmont Memorial High School in Long Island, New York has made her decision. She announced this week that she has chosen Harvard University out of all the other 8 Ivy League schools who accepted her application.

Uwamanzu-Nna plans to pursue a biochemistry and environmental science course at Harvard University this fall, NBC noted. Aside from being her class' high school valedictorian with a 101.64 grade point average, she is also an Intel Science Talent Search finalist. She was also at this year's White House Science Fair where she presented her research on oil wells and cement and met President Barack Obama.

Elmont Memorial High School's valedictorian unveiled her decision by wearing a Harvard University t-shirt under a jacket that she took off as she reached the classroom podium. Her classmates were behind her wearing their respective college shirts as well, CNN shared. She addressed her decision and said that her choice was one she made with her mind in the open. Uwamanzu-Nna comes from Nigerian roots and the high volume of Nigerian students at Harvard University helped her decide to go for the institution.

Prior to choosing Harvard University, Uwamanzu-Nna college application has been accepted by Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, New York University, and Johns Hopkins University, NBC New York reported. Uwamanzu-Nna is one of the few that has managed to be accepted in numerous prestigious universities.

Last year, Harold Ekeh, also Elmont Memorial High School's very own managed the same feat. Ekeh was accepted in all 13 schools including Ivy League schools that he applied for, Business Insider wrote. Ekeh has decided to join Yale University's Class of 2019 after graduating from Elmont Memorial High School as his class' salutatorian, Kfor.com reported.
