After the Ethiopian runners sweeped Boston Marathon medals this year, there are things left on the police desk.

The Boston University Police Department received several accounts of alcohol-related disturbance. Among eight cases reported, seven of them are intoxicated students. On Monday midnight after the 2016 Boston Marathon, the students of Charles River Campus were reportedly making noise that disturbed their peers.

As the BUPD force focused on the marathon that day, apparently the campus area was not well-monitored although an officer claimed that there were units taking care of the school.

According to the Daily Free Press, BUPD reportedly receiving four calls regarding disturbances in campus areas, from 9:59 a.m to 11 a.m. It turned out that the groups were gone before the police arrived. Some of the incidents were then handled by Brookline Police Department because the incident occurred outside Boston University area.

After the deadly bombing in 2013 Boston Marathon, the officials had increased the safety guard by applying uniform and plain clothes strategy for their officers in various spots. Spectators and runners had to go through multiple security checkpoints. Boston uni students were also being reminded in an email of all the prohibited items entering track and viewing areas.

The checkpoints made spectators feel safe as everything was done in casual manner. Some students were said to feel happy because they didn't have to bring bag the whole day. People appreciated the safety-wise the entire time as the officials had made it comfortable for them to watch the marathon.

Scott Pare, deputy director in BUPD, wrote in an email blast, stating that people are encouraged to contact an officer if they find anything suspicious. From 2012 to 2015, there have been 35 crimes occurred in Boston Marathon day. The biggest crime account comes from alcohol intoxication.
