Apple is expected to unveil the 'great desktop' iMac 2017 with many improvements on the design and hardware. The next computing machine will reportedly house some of the best technology including 8K retina display and Intel's latest chip.

iMac 2017 Specs, Price and Update

The current 5K monitor is already expensive and with the new resolutions, the iMac 2017 could have the price doubled. Apple would not mind tagging a big price for the next desktop model as the company has already done it with MacBook Pro, Financial Review reported.

The media outlet went on to say that one of Apple's upcoming desktop will sport 8K Retina display. As far as the processor is concerned, Apple could target Intel Cannonlake for the chipset as the desktop is reportedly scheduled for later this year.

Intel will still have a big role as a silicon chip supplier for Apple gadget lineups. Apple might be exploring new vendors, such as AMD or ARM, but Motley Fool claims that the multinational corp already has a good offering in the pipeline that should make Apple stick with Intel's products.

As for the GPU, the iMac 2017 will reportedly contain AMD Polaris-based graphics card, possibly the latest rebranded RX 500. With the potential specs, the slicker iMac 2017 is expected to support virtual reality experience. Apple will also bring Mac's OLED Touch Bar feature to the desktop machine. However, the 8K Retina model will likely be offered as an add-on feature whilst the standard model might still use 5K screen Mobipicker reported.

iMac 2017 Release Date

Apple is expected to unveil the new iMac 2017 sometime in Q3 2017. A few reports suggest that Apple could launch the desktop PC during WWDC 2017 this June but judging from last year's event, the biggest unveilings were iOS 11, MacOS Sierra and Swift Playgrounds. This year at Apple's worldwide developer conference - the fans can expect iOS and hardware updates announcements.
