Google Pixel 2 Specs, Price: More Details Revealed Redesigned Glass Back, Two Speakers, Slightly Bigger Battery

By

This year would be another exciting time to reveal pricey smartphones including from Apple and Google. The latter is expected to introduce Pixel successor with more improvements on board.

A redesigned signature phone

A new detail coming from reputable source suggests that Google will redesign Pixel 2 glass back, removing the half metal and bringing chamfered edges for a more premium feel. The flagships will reportedly feature stereo speakers and thinner bezels, according to Yahoo Finance.

How expensive is Pixel 2?

Pricing is one of the main concerns in buying a smartphone and rest assured that the Pixel successor will still be premium and pricey for some. The Pixel 2 could be $50 more expensive than its predecessor, Forbes noted.

Due to this, Google is reportedly working on another budget Pixel to cater middle-end users but there is no detail on how cheap the device would be. The previous leaks should corroborate the claim. Walleye, Muskie and Taimen are rumored to be the codenames of all Pixel 2 phones. The latter is said to be the biggest model sporting as big as 6 inches display.

Taimen as Google Nexus 7

With the scarce details, fans quickly assume that Taimen is actually a Nexus 7 2017 tablet. Until Pixel 2 has an official release date, all possibilities remain to be seen. The most probable timeframe is sometime in October or November this year.

Android O and its features

The second-gen flagship will obviously come with Android O pre-installed. Google's latest Android OS will bring advanced features such as Picture-in-Picture and intelligent text.

The new operating system will also fix the battery problem in the previous series as the company has promised to optimize the apps behavior, Wired claimed. The new system will avoid excessive data usage when an app is in the background. That being said, it is safe to assume that Pixel 2 battery won't be gaining much from the current capacity.
