New Study Claims Working from Home Causes Depression; and Here's How You can Overcome It [VIDEO]

A recent report claims that there are a few downsides of being a home-based worker.

While studies have found that home-based workers are more productive than working at a conventional site, the latest research found that working from home could be bad for health.

The idea to have freedom from working in a cubicle was supposed to give freelance workers more perks of having to do their jobs at home or anywhere they want. However, a recent research found that there are negative impacts of working from home.

Researchers have learned that working from home is tied to a number of health issues such as depression, insomnia, and stress. It's reported that teleworkers are more likely getting sleep deprivation. The high level of working intensity has caused a chaos in balancing work and personal life.

Another problem is the isolated environment. Fox has learned from a survey that found remote workers did not get the necessary amount of interactions in the real world. When meetings are done virtually, there is a lack of social interaction.

Companies are encouraged to help home-based workers to have a balanced life

The United Nations's International Labour Organization (ILO) has studied the downsides of this modern working concept and after obtaining data from 15 countries - researchers have found that mobile workers are at risk of working for longer hours with higher intensity, compared to conventional office employees.

The report stated that 41 percent of home-based workers felt stressful and 42 percent admitted to suffering from insomnia. These numbers are higher than of those working at sites. For instance, only 25 percent of office workers complained about stressful job whilst 29 percent reported suffering from sleep deprivation, according to Medical Express.

Researchers suggest that companies who employ home-based workers apply a new measure so they can balance between work and personal life.
