Beats Headphones Package Filled With Four Cans Of Tuna
ByCarmen Lopez, 14, of Bothell, Wa., had a disappointing surprise this holiday season when she received a handful of tuna for Christmas, KCPQ Q13 Fox News reported.
Carmen's father, Steve Lopez, ordered a pair of Dr. Dre Beat Headphones online during Walmart's Black Friday sales, hoping to give it to his daughter for Christmas, but he had no idea the package he received would contain four cans of Chicken of The Sea Chunk Light tuna for Christmas instead of the expensive pair of headphones.
"This is what I picked up," Steve said as he showed Q13 Fox News the box he had purchased. "It was wrapped in plastic. So I thought they were legit."
The morning after Christmas, Steve went to a Walmart store, but didn't get the answer he was hoping for, Q13 Fox News reported.
"Walartm had said they would only give us a refund, at least the store did," Carmen said. "That didn't sound right, because I just want my headphones at this point. I was really looking forward to them."
The Dr. Dre Beat Headphones are not on sale anymore, so a refund for the sale price isn't enough for a new pair, Fox News reported.
The Lopez family has contacted Walmart's corporate office and are waiting to hear back.
However, there has been a fortunate turn of events for the Lopez family.
Lindsay Merkle, the global account manager of sales for Beats by Dre, heard about Lopez's story and decided to visit the family.
"Last night my father and I were watching the news," Merkle told Q13 Fox News. "I saw the unfortunate story of the tuna, and thought let's solve this problem today."
She said she has some of the company's newest headphones and wanted to donate a pair to the family.
"I can only imagine what was going through her head. So hopefully this will help her be a little bit happier and get something she was actually looking forward to on Christmas," Merkle added.
According to Q13 Fox News, Merkle is trying to figure out how to get the new headphones to the Lopez family.
