Xiaomi Mi 5c: 5 Inevitably Strange Things to Note from The Leaked Specs and Launch Date

By

Xiaomi Mi 5c is the affordable model in the Mi 5 family. There have been several leaks from photo to hardware specs that seem a bit strange. Here's the detail!

Camera

From the leaked Mi 5c specs, as reported by Android Headlines, it is stated that the cheaper variant will boast 12 MP and 8 MP cameras which is a strange pairing since the Mi 5 packs 16 MP and 4 MP units.

Back to when Xiaomi released its Mi 4 and Mi 4c, the front-facing camera in its 4c model gets toned down to 5 MP instead of 8 MP but its rear shooter sensor does not change a bit.

Processor

Mi 5 is powered by a Snapdragon 820 chipset and if rumor about Mi 5c getting a 625 series is to be believed, it will be an unusual downgrade. Mi 4 and Mi 4c don't have a performance-gap that big.

Battery

Mi 4 and Mi 4c pack 3080 mAh battery with fast-charging feature. Mi 5c should sport similar capacity to Mi 5 (3000 mAh) but the recent reports seem to suggest a different thing. Mi 5c is said to rock a 3200 mAh battery - much larger than its premium sibling.

Android Marshmallow

The mid-range handset is expected to run on Android Marshmallow out of the box with MIUI 8 as the custom skin. However, a few reports hint at a Nougat pre-installed. The rumors have scattered but never seem consistent. Until the real product comes out to public, tech geeks should take the claim with due caution.

Xiaomi MWC 2017

Xiaomi is expected to unveil Mi 5c at this year's Mobile World Congress, according to Digital Trends. However, recent reports claimed to find out from an internal source that Xiaomi will skip MWC 2017 and that the new series will have a March release date.

Alleged Xiaomi Mi 5c images leaked on Weibo

Meanwhile, a few photos of the alleged Xiaomi Mi 5c have been circulating through the web, as per report from Gizchina.

The leak sourced from Weibo shows off four images of a sleek and simple phone design from the back, front, and side - taken at an outdoor environment.
