Super Bowl 2017, Host Committee In Houston Chooses Rice University Interns

By

A lot of Americans love the Super Bowl. And recently, there are six more fans that stand out. Six Rice University sport management students who recently received the internship of a lifetime are going to get their hands on the event.

The six lucky students are going to work with the Houston Super Bowl 2017 Host Committee to prepare for the Super Bowl LI between the Atlanta Falcons and the New England Patriots on Feb 5.

In the official Houston Super Bowl Host website, the committee acts as the liaison between the NFL, Harris County, the City of Houston and the local community. It is a private non profit group that is responsible for the Super Bowl LI festivities and logistics.

According to Kerri Barber, the department administrator for Rice University's Sport Management, this is a once in a life time opportunity, as reported by News Room America. The student interns are going to reportedly have a lot of involvement with the Houston Super Bowl 2017 Host Committee.

In support of the event, the public transportation system has been over hauled. On Monday alone, the NFL along with Mayor Sylvester Turner had welcomed over a hundred thousand visitors to Houston for the festivities. Visitors have already gone through the Discovery Green and GRB so far, as reported by KHOU. The mayor and the committee are making sure that the area can accommodate the human traffic as well as making sure there is enough power to cover all of the activities and festivities in the area.

The Rice University interns are handling event planning, management, volunteer coordination to marketing. Rice University is known for having consistently ranked and respected schools of Architecture, Business, Engineering, Continuing Studies, Music, Humanities, Natural Sciences and Social Sciences.
