iPad Air 3: Apple's Slimmest Tablet And More Affordable Option; Specs, Price & Release

By

Apple seems to be more focused on its Pro line of iPads as of recent but worry not as the Air range is still alive. Here's what fans can expect from the upcoming iPad Air 3.

iPad Air 3 design

Although Neurogadget mentioned that there will probably be no major design changes, Oigel said that the Air 3's design will most likely be resembling that of the Air 2's. The iPad Air 3 is expected to be Apple's slimmest tablet as of recent, with under 6mm depth. It is anticipated to be available in Gold, Silver, and Space Grey. The company could also launch Rose Gold variant, although there are no updates about that as well.

iPad Air 3 hardware upgrade

According to PC Advisor, previously leaked details about the iPad Air 3 turned out to be for the new iPad Pro: the Apple Pencil support, A9X chip, four-speaker audio system and more. That takes all of us back to square one. One question to note is if Apple will still use the same True Tone screen found on the new iPad Pro but maybe that's wishing for too much.

Improvements could likely include better cameras but Apple will walk a fine line between distinguishing between the iPad Air 3 and iPad Pro 9.7in while making the new tablet a worthy upgrade from the iPad Air 2.

iPad Air 3 release date

According to DigiTimes, the iPad Air 3, along with Apple's newest tablets may not be announced or released in the market until the second half of 2017.

What is important to note is that it could be seen that the tablet niche has been a little challenging, even for this tech giant. The recent years has seen the demand for this type of devices slightly decreasing. Even so, the company remains as the market leader, and the iPad has become one of the icons of consumer technology. Here's to anticipating Apple's future releases in the tablet niche.
