"Injustice 2" is confirmed and scheduled for release on May 16 for the PS4 and the Xbox One.

Gamespot reported that Warner Bros. PR confirmed to them the release date of "Injustice 2." The news was further verified when The NetherRealm Studios Tweeted a confirmation as well.

"Injustice 2" release date

The initial rumor regarding the release of "Injustice 2" stemmed from a cryptic Tweet by NetherRealm Studios Creative Director Ed Boon. The Tweet contained alphanumeric characters that said "i2.05.16.17" The news puts to rest the earlier rumor that "Injustice 2" will arrive in March.

"Injustice 2" characters

The latest character reveal for "Injustice 2" was back in August in a trailer that showed off Harley Quinn, who was in the original "Injustice" and Deadshot, a newcomer to the series. Eight other playable characters are known to be featured in the game so far for a total of 10, it is expected that more characters will be added before the game launch. The other eight are Aquaman, Supergirl, Wonder Woman, Batman, Superman, Blue Beetle, Atrocitus, and Gorilla Grodd.

"Injustice 2" gameplay

"Injustice " and "Mortal Kombat" have been revitalized by employing an incredible graphics engine and complimented by simple command inputs to execute special moves compared to other brawler games. "Injustice 2," it would seem, will play like its predecessor with the addition of over-the-top supers, flashy moves and dealing additional damage due to interactive environments, according to Trusted Reviews.

"Injustice 2" final boss

A leak from the PlayStation Store has inadvertently revealed the identity of the final boss for "Injustice 2." The image was prematurely posted in the game's profile page with details that were clearly meant not to be seen yet by public eyes. The game was hastily removed from the PlayStation Network listings but not before a screencap was taken, revealing the final boss to be "Darkseid," Comic Book Movie reported.

Darkseid has been a fan favorite having been featured in the mobile incarnation of "Injustice: Gods Among Us." Darkseid will come as a playable character for "Injustice 2" as a pre-order bonus.
