UWP Games in Native 4K Now Possible To Run With Project Scorpio


The codename for the next Microsoft Xbox console is Project Scorpio, which was presented in full detail during the 2016 E3. Project Scorpio is expected to have 6-teraflops of computational power beating the Sony 4.2-teraflops for its PlayStation 4 Pro. Phil Spencer, Xbox Chief said that this project is designed to accommodate 4K games and high-fidelity VR.

Because of Project Scorpio, 4K visual quality will be taken into higher grounds to justify the tag "most powerful console ever made."

However, Project Scorpio was not originally intended to be revealed in E3. Because of the leaks about the PlayStation 4, Microsoft was prompted to have it announced earlier than expected.

This change of plans could be one of the possible causes why the rumored Xbox streaming stick was cancelled during the 11th hour. This earlier reveal has instead permitted Microsoft to modify the computational power narrative. The Project Scorpio will be available for 4K Universal Windows Platform PC, and Xbox One games, according to Windows Central.

Gears of War 4 has been confirmed to run at a 4K Resolution for Project Scorpio. The Universal Windows Platform is the native platform for games run in Project Scorpio, but with an addition of development or required porting. Other games like the "Forza Horizon 3" and "Rise of the Tomb Raider" is available at a 4K resolution through the use of a premium PC, thus these games are expected to be projected beautifully in Project Scorpio.

Any game that will be programmed on the UWP, as its native platform on Windows 10, can run on Project Scorpio with negligible changes. This was Microsoft's intention for the UWP. Developers have already been able to develop apps for Windows 10 and Windows 10 mobile, which would be compatible for devices such as phones, laptops, tablets, Xbox One consoles, and the holographic HoloLens, as reported by Tech Frag.
