The cast and crew of DC's "Aquaman" starring Jason Momoa will start shooting this month in Australia with other cast members, Amber Heard (Mera) and Willem Defoe (Nuidis Vulko). However, there is no superhero without a super villain. Who will be DC's choice to play the big bad guy Black Manta?

The "Aquaman" cast and crew will be invading the Roadhouse Village Studios in Gold Coast, Queensland right after the "Thor: Ragnarok" crew brings down the huge sets specially made for the film. The Gold Coast Bulletin reported Warner Bros. DC Entertainment will be coming down under to start filming for the movie "Aquaman" as another franchise to the DC Extended Universe.

"Aquaman" will be directed by "Insidious" and "Fast and Furious 7" director, James Wan. The director will also co-write the movie in a collaborative effort with original "Aquaman" comics writer Geoff Johns, Will Beal, Paul Norris and Mort Weisinger.

The new movie will be mainly based on Johns comics, which ran from 2001 to 2003. Rumor has it that the super villain would be Black Manta, being the more famous and most distinctive of all Aquaman's enemies.

Black Manta is a cruel treasure hunter who uses high-tech gears and knows superb fighting skills. He is the fitting villain to the mighty Aquaman, the king of the seven seas and protector of the ocean.

DC has not disclosed as of yet the actor who is cast for the role of Black Manta. There have been rumors that the character of Defoe, the Atlantean politician Nuidis Vulko, would eventually be Black Manta according to Comic Book.

DC fans are quick to protest that Black Manta is not Atlantean. Rather, he is an autistic orphan boy who grew up in Gotham's Arkham Asylum. Reinventing the super villain as an Atlantean does not sit well for fans. DC Entertainment needs to cast its villain to further build up the anticipation just before the movie "Aquaman" hits the theaters on July 27, 2018.
