Xperia XZ Review: Will Kodak Ektra Replace Sony's Flagship as A Smartphone with Advanced Camera? [VIDEO]


Kodak smartphone, Ektra, has anything that enthusiasts and professionals would love but will it replace Sony's Xperia XZ as a premium phone that produces stunning images?

Sony Xperia XZ vs Kodak Ektra: Design and build

Ektra is a compact smartphone sporting 5-inch display whilst Xperia XZ has a larger screen of 5.2 inches. Both devices offering 1080 x 1920 pixels resolution with Corning Gorilla Glass. The back panel of Ektra looks similar to a pocket camera with comfortable grip and huge lens.

Judging from the design standpoint, Ektra is quite nothing like any other smartphones that go with slim-sleek design, albeit it feels premium in hand. The Xperia XZ feels more masculine with the signature rectangular shape, wherein the device feels more comfortable in hand due to its thin dimension.  

Sony Xperia XZ vs Kodak Ektra: Performance

Kodak claims that its device can match to other smartphones with its deca-core processor under the hood. Ektra has 3GB RAM paired with 32GB of internal memory expandable up to 128GB in a dedicated slot. A MediaTek Helio X20 processor runs Android Marshmallow out of the box, The Verge reported.

Xperia XZ uses Snapdragon 820 as the chipset paired with 32 or 64 GB of internal storage and 3 GB RAM. It runs Android Marshmallow planned upgrade to Nougat.

Sony Xperia XZ vs Kodak Ektra: Camera

The optics department is what the smartphone enthusiasts are curious about the new Kodak Ektra. It sports 21 MP of rear camera with Sony's IMX230 image sensor and there's manual-auto modes and full range of features such as editing-apps integration and real-time modifications. It is pretty much like how a DSLR can offer, TechCrunch reported.

Xperia XZ packs 23 MP of rear camera packs camera technology on board and there is a predictive autofocus to track object.

Will Kodak Ektra beat Sony Xperia XZ?

It is still too early to decide the winner but from what both phones bring to the table, Kodak could be a good choice for the faithful but there is only a few special things in the device. Sony who has already established a name in a smartphone and camera lines may have everything well-served in Xperia XZ.
