Last week, it was announced that the Microsoft Team is now available globally under all Office 365 Education plans. Their new chat-based workspace solution became available on Tuesday. Microsoft Teams was only available for Office 365 business users but not it can also be used as part of the free Office 365 Education plan.

Microsoft Teams is available in all Office 365 for Education suite licensing such as Education, Education Plus and Education E5, as well as existing Education E3 suites.

Microsoft's announcement suggested that educational institutions could run a pilot to test Microsoft Teams. It can also be turned on for teachers, staff and higher education students to help learning faster and accessible according to Redmond Mag.

Teachers can enable Microsoft Teams for their institution through the Office 365 admin center. Administrators can now easily configure access at the license level for Faculty & Teachers and/or Students.

This one is different from the business plan because Microsoft Teams will arrive in a turned-off state by default for Office 365 Education users. Turning it on will activate the service for the entire tenant. It's possible to control access using the Office 365 Admin Center.

IT admins can easily configure access at the license level for Faculty & Teachers and/or Students. Microsoft recommends that IT admins enable Microsoft Teams and begin using it within their IT organization and with faculty, staff, teachers, and higher-education students.

The MS Power User reported that steps on how to turn on Microsoft Teams are available online and IT admins can also learn more about Microsoft teams by visiting the Microsoft Virtual Academy website, or on the Microsoft Teams Tech Community page.

They have also announced that Microsoft Teams is now available in 181 markets around the world in a total of 19 languages. It runs on the Windows, Mac, Android, iOS and web platforms, it has also achieved grade B accessibility.
