Sony has began seeding the new firmware update on its PS4 consoles, which should brought players' demand of external hard drive support for game installs. However, some players have welcomed other serious bug together with the new features, specifically losing the ability to connect to a Wi-Fi network.

Come last week, Sony has released the PlayStation 4 firmware update version 4.50. Unfortunately, the update also gave birth to some issues on network connectivity, which is experienced by players after installing the update.

TechRadar reported that the PS4 consoles under the new firmware update are notifying players about incorrect Wi-Fi password input together with the error code NW-31297-2, despite the fact that the passwords are correct. Some users report frequently getting 'failed' notices upon connecting.

As of now, Sony is not yet addressing or clarifying the problem if whether the new update caused the network connectivity issue. Some users say they are being instructed to contact their Internet Service Provider (ISP) for solution.

For additional help about the network problems in PS4, the Kotaku community has shared through an article the temporary steps to solve the Wi-Fi issue.

• Switch your wireless router's signal support from B/G/N to just B/G. This workaround requires accessing your wireless router's internal settings. Normally, this is achieved by typing the IP address of your wireless router (often 192.168.1.1) into your web browser and entering the username and password. If all else fails, search the web for instructions.
• Some users are reporting success after either disabling their router's wireless password or switching security from WPA2 to something else. I would not recommend compromising your wireless security. Maybe skip this, and try option 3.
• If all else fails, connect your PlayStation 4 physically via a network cable. If this solution were in any way convenient, we wouldn't be worrying about wireless connections at all, but some folks just can't deal with cables all over the place.

For the uninitiated, the PlayStation 4 firmware 4.50 update offers new features on the console such as external drive support, custom background photos, and notification menu updates. The said update also adds the 3D Blu-ray support for PS VR headsets and the performance-enhancing "Boost Mode" for PS4 Pro owners.
