The legendary Vogue editor, Anna Wintour, has inspired not only the tyrannical Miranda Priestly from "The Devil Wears Prada," but is also a mentor and close confidant to self-made millionaire Tory Burch. Wintour has been giving Burch advice all throughout her career, from launching her first fashion to approaching investors.

Burch said that the best advice Wintour ever gave her was to "Be focused." As other people may weigh in for various reasons, you need to believe in yourself and your ideas she said. She realized that the mentorship was crucial to her career.

Bill Gates said that his mentor Warren Buffett has advised him for more than two decades. Tommy Hilfiger's said that advice from his mentor Leonard Lauder, chairman emeritus of Estee Lauder, was crucial in helping him build his company. Mentorship has not only proven great success for these high-net-worth people, but it has also opened their minds to seek counsel when faced with criticisms.

According to CNBC, Burch encourages people to embrace their unique perspective. She recently launched a campaign called "Embrace Ambition" to encourage entrepreneurs to pursue career goals.

On Wednesday, coinciding with International Women's Day and Women's History Month, the Tory Burch Foundation launched the "Embrace Ambition" campaign. Burch said in a statement that women need to overcome double standards in order to achieve equality. During her years in the business she said her experiences showed her that there are systemic impediments to a woman's success and cultural mores are one of them according to Philly .

As part of her campaign, her website gives its visitors full content on goal-setting. The foundation also empowers female entrepreneurs by providing mentorship and resources that they will need to start a business or find their ideal job.
