Nanotechnology aims to revolutionize various industries, especially in the area of medicine and robotics. With nanotech robots are not the hulking metallic androids you imagine them to be but microscopic robots that can deliver drugs and perform precision surgery much better than before. Here are some ways how nanorobots can make you much healthier in the future.

Deliver drugs on the exact target

At present, our body solely relies on our circulatory system to deliver the medicine to where it is supposed to go. However, it takes a long time for the medicine to reach its destination which lessens its effect. With nanorobots, drugs will be delivered much faster making it more effective as it reaches the targeted destination.

Scientists are still looking for methods how to transport these nanorobots much faster. One impressive study includes using bacteria that swim along low oxygen areas of the body to act as robots and carry the drugs with them.

Toxin identification and removal

Self-propelled nanorobots can detect toxins in biological environments much faster. One possibility is seen is by combining nanomotors and red blood cells to create these microbots that can detect and remove toxins from the body. Red blood cells are ideal candidates because they naturally absorb toxins.

Precision surgery

With nanorobots, doctors will be able to perform surgery even in the most difficult to reach areas of the body. What more, these surgeries will be non-invasive and much safer.

One of these is called microgrippers which can hold tissues and cells. Although the current version is still comparatively large, scientists are looking into smaller and untethered versions that have self-folding capabilities.

Other possibilities are magnetically controlled robots which can penetrate thick tissue and micro bullets powered by ultrasound which can penetrate into a diseased tissue.
