Florida State University takes health and modernization seriously. Which is why FSU has announced that they have acquired a ten year contract with Sodexo when it comes to their dining services.

Sodexo is going to bring in an expanded menu of healthy and locally sourced fresh foods to the staff and students of Florida State University. The Sodexo staff who are going to prepare the meals are culinary trained chefs.

In the contract with Florida State University, Celebrity chef and FSU alumnus Art Smith is going to serve as campus Culinary Ambassador, as reported by Florida State. FSU President John Thrasher could not contain his excitement about the enhanced dining services everyone will witness and experience.

But the 10 year contract between Florida State University and Sodexo is not cheap. Sodexo raked in from the deal a contract worth over $173 million, as reported by Tallahassee Democrat. The amount is going to go to multiple dining and food programs. Sodexo is going to cater to residential dining, retail services, concessions, catering and even a mobile dining experience using food trucks. Many may think that the deal will include cost increases. After finding out that the deal is worth more than $173 million, students and staff wonder if the meals are going to be expensive. According to the university announcement, the current meal plans and rates will remain the same.

The agreement does not only include Sodexo servicing the staff and students from Florida State University. The agreement also includes scholarships and internships for its students. Aside from getting meal plans, there will also be funding for sustainability programs.

The university administration and its VP for Finance and Administration, Kyle Clark, says that they expect Florida State to become one of the top dining programs in the country. Sodexo currently services a number of universities nationally including Georgia Tech, the University of South Carolina and many more.
