Fans are hungry for the third season of "Rick and Morty." A release date hasn't been confirmed yet, but co-creator Dan Harmon recently revealed vital details about the development process.

Earlier this month, Harmon told a fan on Twitter that Season 3 is in the drawing process after the scripts were completed last September. That's satisfying to know, though it's also equally frustrating because fans have no idea how far along in the process the creators are.

The "Rick and Morty" shared a video (which you can watch at the end of this report) earlier this year. The clip demonstrated how hard animation is and how it takes more than a month to have the final product from a rough cut. The video showed the characters looking pretty good, but they're still miles away from the ones viewers see on TV.

Harmon blames himself and co-creator Justin Roiland for the delayed release date of Season 3. He told IndieWire last month that the scriptwriting for the third season took so long.

Harmon revealed that he and Roiland often have disagreements about the upcoming season and that contributed to further delays. He recounted that they fought less while making Season 2, which is why that season was released without any preamble. Ultimately, they decided to follow that same path and just refrain from fighting.

According to Cinema Blend, Harmon and Roiland are perfectionists when it comes to Season 3 and they want the best and funniest jokes. It should be noted, too, that the release of Season 3 isn't entirely on Harmon's hands. It all depends on Adult Swim, the network that "Rick and Morty" airs on, but there weren't any bad blood between the two entities.

Viewers can appease themselves through fanart for now while the waiting game for Season 3 is still playing out. Roiland recently retweeted a creation from 3D sculptor Jonathan Sullivan (goes by the username @enginecogs on Twitter) showcasing Rick stark naked and his penis on full display.

Den of Geek speculated that "Rick and Morty" Season 3 will be released in March 2017. It remains to be seen whether that prediction will come true or not. Season 3, which was 14 episodes, included several new writers.
