College students from all over the world will discuss solutions to global issues during the National Model UN Conferences 2017. The conferences will be held in New York, DC, Canada and Galapagos.

The said conferences are held every year with the aim of providing college students with opportunities to understand how the United Nations work, according to National Model United Nations. The students will discuss solutions to global issues that impact the whole world.

The first conference will be held in New York. There will be Conference A and Conference B. Conference A will be held on March 19 to 23, 2017 while Conference B will be held on April 9 to 13, 2017.

Those who cannot attend the conferences in New York can join it in DC on November 3 to 5, 2017. NMUN Canada will host another conference on November 19 to 25, 2017. During the conference, participants will be divided into committees parallel to those in the UN.

The aims of the NMUN conferences are to let participants gain insights into how the UN works. They will also learn about other countries through research. Participants will discuss problems faced by world leaders and develop social skills such as teamwork, conflict resolution, cooperation, negotiation, public speaking and listening, according to Global Center.

National Model UN conferences are held for elementary school students, high school and college. Faculty members are also invited.

Some universities hold the National Model United Nations on school level. This lets students understand what is United Nations and its mandates. All activities will be designed to offer students experiential learning.

The gathering of college students and faculty members from all over the world in one venue is one good way of making them feel as one with other nations. Simulated scenarios will be done to give students the needed experience how leaders of the world solve global issues.
