An expert in issues regarding religious freedom says that the crackdowns on free speech inside universities will get worse despite the current election of U.S. President Donald J. Trump, a news report says. Michael Farris, founder of the Home School Legal Defense Association and co-chair of the committee which drafted the Indiana Religious Freedom Restoration Act, told The College Fix that students belonging to a particular viewpoint will face more hardship and be "more under siege" now than they were in the previous administration.

Farris is has been appointed the second CEO, president and general counsel of the Alliance Defending Freedom  (ADF), an alliance that provides legal assistance to people embroiled in cases regarding religious freedom. Asked as to his opinion if censorship and discrimination inside universities will lessen with Trump as POTUS, Farris, who founded the "classical Christian" Patrick Henry College, said he thinks "it will get worse."

Farris, explained that even if there's a new administration, the officials at each university still have the control over what happens inside their campuses. He explains that universities will react negatively to what is happening in Washington, and will "tighten up the reins."

Even with that view, Farris says he plans to keep ADF going in the same direction that it did under its former president, former Reagan administration prosecutor Alan Sears, while expanding on the alliance's mission to ensure people's right to freedom to live out their faith. ADF focuses on religious freedom, and the sanctities of life, marriage, and family.

Sears remains as the alliance's founder.

Recently, the ADF filed lawsuits for various cases regarding freedom of speech and religion.

It filed two cases against CSU, one for arresting and putting in jail several students who were distributing free pocket-sized copies of the U.S. Constitution, and another for not releasing funds for a student-run pro-life event.
